Animal Kingdom For The Win

Shout out to my future mother-in-law and sister-in-law for planning and hosting such a wonderful Kentucky Derby themed bridal shower. I enjoyed watching the Kentucky Derby with my family, future in-laws, and friends and their company is always a "win" in my opinion. See you at the finish line in two weeks!

Red Bull Gives You Wings

This week I had the pleasure of working in New Jersey. On my flight home, I was joined by the New York Red Bulls soccer team on their way to Los Angeles to play the Galaxy! A large group guys outfitted in red, white, and blue Adidas sweat suits are hard to miss, especially when they are tall and have good builds, if you catch my drift. I may be already claimed, but a girl is still allowed to look!

For those of you who are soccer fans, I disappointingly share that I don't think Thierry Henry was on the plane. I looked as carefully as I could and wasn't able to spot him.

A Lesson Learned The Hard Way

Without any forewarning, my hard drive died on my personal computer and all of my documents, pictures, and mp3s were GONE.

Learn from my mistake and backup your important files if you haven't recently or at all. Losing them feels awful, please trust me on this one.

Wedding Hair & Make-Up Trial

This weekend I did my hair and make-up trial for the wedding and was very excited with the results. Here is a picture of one of the doos we tried during the trial.

Three Layers Of Happiness

MH and I most often go for breakfast since we particularly enjoy their King's Hawaiian French Toast, french toast made with their special homemade batter and King's Hawaiian bread, and their King's Burrito, a blend of scrambled eggs, fried rice, Portuguese sausage and cheddar cheese in a flour tortilla.

I am also a huge fan of their desserts! My favorite is their Paradise cake, a three layer (guava, passion fruit, and lime) chiffon cake with whipped cream filling and a three fruit nectar glaze on top.

Their other desserts/baked goods are great too. We've previously picked up other cakes from their bakery for family events/birthdays, and picked up an assortment of pastries for brunches. I recently tried their Paradise cheesecake, a three layer(guava, passion fruit, and lime) cheesecake with a graham cracker crust and whipped cream, and would gladly eat another slice! If you are ever in Torrance, you should stop in and try it for yourself.

I never need an excuse to eat dessert. I love eating dessert whether I am happy or sad, anytime of the day.

My First Cake Experience

On my first birthday, I had my first cake experience, and I am convinced that was the inception of my sweet tooth. Look at how happy I am!!!

I passed my final section of the CPA exams, Financial Reporting and Accounting!

Unfortunately, I am not allowed to tack on the CPA designation after my name quite yet. First, I need to pass the Professional Ethics for Certified Public Accountants exam (PASSED as of 3/29/2011!!!) and then I need to submit all of my paperwork and fees to the state of California for processing. The application review process takes approximately 3 months, so hopefully everything will be completed before the end of July. What a wonderful birthday present to myself this year!

My Fleeting Days As A Bachelorette

Last weekend, my girl friends and I rendezvoused in Sin City aka Las Vegas to celebrate my fleeting days as a bachelorette. I'm lucky to have such an amazing group of friends. You girls truly made it a weekend that I won't forget. I hope you all had fun and for those of you who couldn't make it, we missed you. If I don't see you sooner, I look forward to partying with you again in May.

The Garden State & The Big Apple

This week I had my first New Jersey experience! Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to visit the Jersey Shore, but seeing is as how there was a high of 45 degrees while I was there, it was probably a trip best saved for another time.

However, I did take an adventurous trip and drove to New York to visit Big Jules. Getting through the Lincoln tunnel was quite an experience and then driving up Madison Avenue and down 5th Avenue was something else! I saw practically every store imaginable while I was driving up Madison Avenue and then quickly passed the Guggenheim, Madison Square Garden, and Carnegie Hall. Jules showed me the ropes of taking the New York subway, we took a quick stroll through Central Park, and visited Times Square.

Unfortunately, the rest of my trip wasn't as exciting since I was there for work, but Summit and Basking Ridge, New Jersey are both very cute towns. I look forward to seeing what all New Jersey has to offer with the hope that MTV's Jersey Shore series isn't capturing it's only highlights. I hope to make it to Carlo's Bakery to taste what the Cake Boss has to offer. I wonder if their cakes live up to all of the hype.
